The Old Red Lion Inn is a hotel in Cambridge,
near Newmarket. The Old Red Lion Inn dates back
to its 18th Century days and was originally
an old farm house. The lodges offer comfortable
accommodation in a charming setting.
We are fortunate that the Thurlow ~ Point to
Point Race Course is located just over the road
from us. The villagers take their dogs over
to all of the meets and enjoy a wonderful day
out making a fun full day out for the family.

About The Hotel and Cambridge
There are 12 comfortably furnished, en-suite
bedrooms, including ground floor rooms some
with disabled facilities. They are all situated
in attractive buildings around the main building
and restaurant, allowing for a more tranquil
stay. We have wireless broadband and satellite
channels in all the letting rooms that are included
in the price.
The bar area has comfort seating and with the
log burner offers a nice atmosphere especially
during the winter months. We have a
good selection of wines, spirits & cask
conditioned beers to choose from, and a regularily
revised bar menu is also available..
We open 12 - 2.30 5 - 11.30 Mon - Thurs
12 - 11.30 Fri - Sat
12 - 5pm Sunday
Our restaurant comfortably seats 55 people
and has a combination of both a wooden floor
& Yorkshire stone floor covering. The
log burner gives a warm and comfortable feel
during the winter months. Our Sunday Carvery
(during winter months) is always very popular
and a reservation is essential.
Horseheath is close to the historic market
town of Saffron Walden. Audley End House and
linton Zoo are also nearby. The university town
of Cambridge is a 20 minute drive to the north.
To the east lie the pretty Suffolk villages
of Clare and Long Melford. Bury St Edmonds,
with it's beautiful abby ruins and gardens,
is a short drive away. We are also a 20 minutes
drive from Newmarket the capital of Horse Racing
