Local Attractions

Horseheath is, as the name implies, horse-racing country. We have our very own Point-to-Point course opposite the pub and many people stay here for the nearby Newmarket Races. The stunning university city of Cambridge is easily reached by car and bus and there are plenty of other local attractions.

Cambridge

Cambridge is a wonderful fusion of the everyday and the extraordinary, a living city that has shaped history, and today reflects the best of the historic and contemporary.

Wander down the famous “Backs” or take a punt on the Cam and explore the historic colleges set in magnificent waterside gardens. Visit the city’s many famous galleries, museums and theatres. The city centre offers plenty of shopping opportunities as well as a host of bars and cafes to relax in.

Call us today and let us organise that perfect weekend break.

Horseheath Point-to-Point

We are lucky to have a prestigious equine venue on our doorstep. Thurlow Estates manage the Horseheath race-track and cross-country course across the road from our location.

Point to Point has been taking place at Horseheath for over forty years and provides a fabulous day out for the whole family. Come and cheer on your favourite horse and rider or just because you love the thrill of the sport. There are usually three meetings a year between January and April.

Horseheath also hosts the International British Eventing trials which returned in April 2021 after a 2 year absence.  The trials attract hundreds of competitors from across 5 counties.

There is plenty of easy parking, Bookies Tote, funfair and trade stands on site.

Duxford War Museum

Duxford is Europe’s premier aviation museum – as well as having one of the finest collections of tanks, military vehicles and naval exhibits in the country.

This famous heritage site began as an airfield in the First World War and also played a vital role in the Second World War, firstly as an RAF fighter station and later as an American fighter base.

Current attractions include the American Air Museum and AirSpace, Duxford’s remarkable new £25 million exhibition of British & Commonwealth aviation, celebrating our rich military and civilian heritage.

Check the website for dates of the world-renowned airshows which occur regularly throughout the summer. Make sure you book ahead though as they are hugely popular!

Newmarket Races

Newmarket is the historic Home of Horseracing and the greatest horseracing centre in the world. It offers a treasure trove of sights and sounds for the racing enthusiast. Quite simply anyone with even just a passing interest in the “Sport of Kings” should visit Newmarket at least once in their lifetime.

Spring at Newmarket means world class racing on the NatWest Rowley Mile, the “Course of Champions”, during April and May.
